Creative director Kostadin Ekzarov has been editing a very catchy video of Sara’s workshop at Flava House in Sofia, Bulgaria (contemporary dance technique and improvisation). Check it out!
The second workshop of contemporary dance at Flava House was composed of two parts: 1) the dance technique class and 2) the improvisation and composition class. Together with the participants Sara created a short dance presentation with the material of the classes and the students performed it on the last day for the audience.

The Colombian choreografer Raul Saldarriaga invited Sara to dance in a short duo in Amsterdam during 2012. In cooperation they created the piece ”I am Dutch”. They presented a fragment of the work on the ferry boat that connects Amsterdam North with Amsterdam Central Station.
During the piece the ferry travels between Amsterdam North and Amsterdam Center, and the stage it is the space between two spaces. Transporting the dancers from one place to the other is a key element of this piece on the subject of cultural integration.

One Nights Dance is a project that gives five beginning makers the opportunity to create a small work in a compact period, with guidance, supported by workshops and with the possibility to share thoughts with a dramaturge and amongst the participants. The application is open, but we have selected five makers who were convincing in their motivation to be a maker, clear in their concept, elaborated in their working method and convincing during the selection workshop. The dance makers we have selected are: Daniela Cruz, Eilit Marom, Loïc Perela, Conner Schumacher and Raúl Saldarriaga. One of the makers will be awarded by a Research and Devlopment project in 2013.
Dansateliers is an independent place for dancers and makers to meet and greet in Rotterdam. On a daily base we organise professional dance classes en on a regular base jams and workshops. As a dance work place we offer the possibility to research and investigate, as a production house we produce short and full-length evening works. Every dance maker working under our umbrella, either to conduct a research, or to produce a piece, will be supported on a publicity and production level and will be coached dramaturgically. All tailor-made. www.dansateliers.nl

From the 30 of July to the 4 of august 2012 Sara Alba went to Tunja, the capital of Boyacá (a province near Bogotá) where she gave a contemporary dance workshop to a new group. The initiative came from the dancer and teacher Mariana Cadena, the director at Colectivo La Caracola. Around 15 persons with different backgrounds participated during a six day long intensive contemporary dance workshop. The students formed a remarkably heterogeneous group of literature students, theatre performers and musicians. Some of them had dance experience, others had never tried contemporary dance before. This workshop, supported by Fundacion Cultural Hibrido, turned into a great and touching experience for Sara and the participants, featuring technical classes, improvisation and composition exercises. After the workshop poems students wrote poems inspired by the classes!
